Pyongyang/Beijing, 25 July: North Korea urged the United States on Wednesday [25 July] to replace the armistice that ended the 1950-1953 Korea War with a formal peace treaty, making the call ahead of the 49th anniversary of the signing of the truce.

At the same time, the North Korean Foreign Ministry reiterated North Korea's right to arm itself with nuclear weapons against U.S. "nuclear threats." North Korea "will never be the first to abandon nuclear deterrent as long as the U.S....remains hostile," a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said in a statement released through the official Korean Central News …
