The devastation of a bombing this week that killed four key members of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's inner circle has forced regional powers to shift their focus to the post-al-Assad era, say analysts. "Since day one, al-Assad's downfall has been the main goal for the Saudi-Qatari-Turkish axis," said Oraib Rentawi, the director of the Amman-based Al Quds Centre for Political Studies.

"Now that their goal is clearly in sight, they are preparing for phase two: influencing the first post-al-Assad government," he told dpa. Syrian rebels' military advances in recent days have sparked a shift in the strategies of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, …
