It wasn't the end of the world but rather the beginning of a helming career for Lorene Scafaria, whose directorial debut "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" made its world premiere at the L.A. lest Monday.

Scafaria wrote 2008's "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," and it was that pic's title that led to a different take on the apocalyptic scenario. "The word 'infinite' is in the title and there's not really much of a ticking clock for them besides the sun coming up, so I thought, let's do the opposite with this. Let's make their love story finite and take forever off the table and give them the loudest ticking clock you can think of." …
