A Brooklyn ex-con dodged a more serious charge of raping a child when a jury last summer convicted him of sexual abuse. But Frank Flowers, 51, could spend the rest of his life in prison anyway.
Erie County Judge Kenneth F. Case on Wednesday sentenced Flowers to 15 years to life in prison on the first-degree sexual abuse conviction.
The jury found Flowers guilty of sexual abuse but cleared him of predatory sexual assault against a child. Sexual abuse carries a maximum seven-year prison sentence.
