Air service talks eyed with Burma.

THE PHILIPPINES is preparing for air service talks with Myanmar, possibly as early as next month, as that formerly reclusive Southeast Asian state's apparent openness to reforms has prompted some Western economies to lift sanctions, officials said yesterday.

"They (Myanmar) are proposing June 28 and 29, but we think that that is a very short notice. We have to prepare for it and comply with administrative requirements," Carmelo A. Arcilla, executive director of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), said in a text message.

"We will try to schedule it next month."
