EDITORIAL / Restart of Oi nuclear plant important for people's livelihoods

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Friday expressed his strong determination to restart the idled Nos. 3 and 4 reactors of the Oi nuclear power plant in Fukui Prefecture.

Noda said at a press conference: "Japanese society cannot be sustained with its nuclear power plants kept idle. The nuclear power plants are important sources of electricity."

"It is my judgment that they should be reactivated to protect the livelihoods of people in the nation," the prime minister stressed.

It is significant that the prime minister has clearly defined nuclear power plants …
