June 09--How easy it is to criticize, to assume that the victim was at fault, or the victim's parents, or someone. To find someone to blame is less terrifying than to accept that children die or are seriously injured because there is no way to fully protect them from all the dangers of life. Friday morning, as I write this, there are two such stories. A 10-year-old boy was killed in a wreck on Interstate 10 on Thursday when he was partially ejected from the vehicle in which he was riding. The driver lost control.
