June 05--Harold Wilder stood as the national anthem was sung Tuesday, holding his hat over his heart.
The World War II veteran and former bomber pilot wasn't there when the Battle of Midway was fought in the Pacific 70 years ago this week. But he remembers how the battle changed the course of the war.
"This was when we began to feel less vulnerable," said Wilder, 94, who later served in the Army and was stationed in Europe during the war.
