Budget session ends, but key financial Bills remain on hold.

Parliament was adjourned sine die on Tuesday, bringing to close the two-part Budget session that commenced on March 12. The tenth session of the 15th Lok Sabha saw 21 Government Bills introduced.

More than 20 Bills were passed, including those relating to the Railway and General Budget. But, this session would be remembered for little progress on the planned legislative changes in the financial sector a banking, insurance and pension.

Key Bills such as the Banking Laws Amendment Bill, Insurance Laws Amendment Bill and Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Bill were not passed, raising doubts over the Government's commitments …
