Members of the Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) have been conducting Responsible Care (RC) activity with a focus on chemical manufacturers. RC is a voluntary initiative of the chemical industry, whereby each company that handles chemicals ensures "environment, safety, and health" in all processes, from the development of chemicals, to manufacturing, distribution, use, and final consumption, to the disposal and recycling process. At the same time, RC functions to allow for the chemical industry to communicate with the public by openly disclosing performance.
