CHAMPIONS Victoria opened the defence of their Absolute Bowls Swansea League First Division title with a comprehensive win against Morriston United at Victoria Park.

There was little to choose between the sides after the opening five ends with Victoria holding a seven-shot lead. By halfway they had increased their lead to 20 shots before dominating the second half to win 117-60.

The Victoria quartet of Keith Matthews, Ken Hillier, Dai Cana and Damien Devois were in outstanding form as they top-scored with a 44-7 win against Steve Norwood and the home side went on to secure 12 points after further …
