PARAMEDIC Liz Ryan has pledged to raise the roof after winning enough money to pay her mortgage for a year.

Liz and her husband, Gerry, both 44, recently discovered they needed a new roof on their home of five years in Whitchurch. The couple, of Kingscourt Close, didn't know how they would be able to afford the bill for the work and had delayed getting someone in to carry out the job.

But now they can press on with the vital repair after Liz won the Post's competition to cover their mortgage payments for the next 12 months.
