A CHARITY helping children with cancer is nearly pounds 7,000 better off after Tyneside walkers completed the Three Peaks Challenge.

Staff at Tesco Bank, Longbenton, and their friends and families, climbed the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in aid of the Toma Fund, supporting young cancer sufferers.

The fund was established in memory of Newcastle United academy footballer Jordan Thompson, 15, who died in 2007, and his cousin Sophie Atay, who died in 2010 at the age of two.
