Prague, March 28 (CTK) - The Czech cabinet today approved a general referendum bill under which a referendum must be called if at least 250,000 people require it, sources close to the cabinet told CTK. Under the government-proposed bill, the government may call a referendum, too. On the other hand, a group of parliament members will not have the right to require a referendum. The opposition Social Democrats (CSSD) recently proposed that a referendum be called if at least 200,000 citizens, 80 deputies or 33 senators demand it.
