A BRONZE-AGE hoard discovered in a Carmarthenshire field has been declared treasure. Believed to have been buried around 3,000 years ago, the 13 bronze artifacts, including part of a bronze bracelet, fragments of a large bronze spearhead and a complete bronze socketed axe, was discovered in St Ishmael, near Kidwelly. 1

Local man Kevin Sawyer made the discovery while metal detecting in a small field under pasture in June last year.

The hoard was identified and reported on by museum archaeologists at the National Museum Wales.
