Egypt prime minister delivers first government statement before parliament.

On 26 February, Prime Minister Kamal al-Janzuri delivered the first government statement before the newly elected People's Assembly (parliament's lower house). The premier talked about Egypt's foreign relations, the political and security situations and the economy. The economic situation in particular took most of Al-Janzuri's speech.

Al-Janzuri said that Egypt had received "financial assistance promises" from the West and the Arab countries, but these promises were not fulfilled.
