Eight out of every 10 men diagnosed with prostate cancer die within a year, a study by the Uganda Cancer Institute has said.
Prostate cancer is one of the leading killer cancers in men after Kaposi sarcoma (cancer of the skin) which is associated with HIV/Aids. According to the director Uganda Cancer Institute, Dr Jackson Orem, at least 5-10 new cases of prostate cancer are registered at the institute monthly when the cancer is in its advanced stage, making most of the patients to dies within a year.
