In the Daily Monitor of January 10, under the title "Musicians for president; who would Uganda's be?", David Sseppuuya gives a detailed account of performing and visual artists who have participated and contributed to political landscape in different countries, and the disbelief he has about whether Uganda's musicians can emulate the case that he cited. I share the author's skepticism about whether Uganda's music industry can produce a candidate who can deliver this country to a place where we all imagine. An examination of the music industry demonstrates that the ills that are haunting our politics also have a place in the music industry.
