Pakistan has made tremendous progress in elimination of Iodine Deficiency Disorders. Dr Abdul Rauf, EDO health Faisalabad, informed the participants that according to National Nutrition Survey (NNS) 2011, consumption of iodised salt at household level has increased from 17 percent in 2001 to 69 percent in 2011.

This increase in iodine consumption has directly benefited mother and school children. 52 percent mothers are non-deficient in iodine today as compared to 24 percent in 2001. Iodine deficiency among children has decreased from 64 percent to 37 percent only during the same decade.
