Corona seeking hearing before trial.

CHIEF JUSTICE Renato C. Corona has requested for a hearing to determine evidence on charges filed against him prior to the start of impeachment trial next month, an official said yesterday.

"Mr. Corona filed a motion for preliminary hearing this [Thursday] late afternoon," impeachment court spokesperson Ma. Valentina S. Cruz said in a telephone interview.

A preliminary hearing will allow the senator-judges to determine whether or not there is enough evidence to hold the trial.

Ms. Cruz said Mr. Corona "did not indicate a preferred date for the preliminary hearing."
