Recipients of the 2011 Governor General's Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case include Sharon McIvor, of British Columbia, who has devoted close to three decades of her life to advancing equality for Aboriginal women. McIvor is the face behind the legal fight to force changes to the Indian Act to prohibit discrimination against women and their descendants.
