Arrangements are under way for a Hogmanay fireworks display to bring 2012 in with a bang at a north-east village.

If the mild weather continues, big crowds are anticipated at Portsoy for the annual riot of colour and noise to herald the new year.

The town's 75 Club charitable group is the main organiser of the event and three other local organisations are lending a hand.

They are the village's thrift shop, the Institute Hall and the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival group.
