A DRAMATIC painting by Derby artist Joseph Wright has inspired the latest slice of Shakespeare from the 1623 theatre company.

The Winter's Tale is one of a series of paintings created by Wright inspired by scenes from Shakespeare.

It depicts a storm-hit seashore and brings to life key elements of the play.

With Derby currently celebrating the work of the artist through the Wright of Derby festival, 1623 have used The Winter's Tale painting as the starting point for an hourlong show that will be performed at Quad.
