London, Dec. 3 (ANTARA/Xinhua-0ANA) - British former deputy prime minister John Prescott on Saturday slammed rich countries such as the United States and Canada, saying they are trying to scupper a new climate deal.

He pointed to the fact that the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol would expire in 202, but several countries had refused to extend it as the UN climate talks is taking place in Durban, South Africa.
