US enterprise software developer Novell (NASDAQ:NOVL) said Monday it has agreed to be acquired by local sector firm Attachmate Corp for nearly USD2.2bn (EUR1.6bn) in cash. The total takeover price includes a USD450m sale of Novell intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings, a consortium of technology companies formed by Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT), also announced today.
