The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) branch has issued a Request for Information (RFI) related to handheld detectors that can be used to resolve alarms by Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) used at the nation's airport checkpoints. S&T's Explosives Division is seeking information on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and near-COTS handheld detectors as secondary screening mechanisms to reduce the number of passenger pat downs required to resolve AIT anomalies.
