Indonesian mobile operator XL Axiata grew nine-month profits by 5 percent to IDR 2.18 trillion from IDR 2.08 trillion in the same period last year. Normalised net income (excluding the impact of forex, accelerated depreciation, and a severance payment) increased by 15 percent to IDR 2.4 trillion. Revenues went up 8 percent to IDR 13.97 trillion driven by strong growth in data services revenues, which went up 50 percent to IDR 2.44 trillion. The growth in data and VAS revenues was mainly due to the increasing popularity of social networking applications and other content as data enabled mobile phones have become more affordable.
