SILK: Rising traffic on highway will help reduce red ink.

KUALA LUMPUR: SILK Holdings Bhd expects growing traffic on its highway to help trim its losses as Kajang is set to see rapid development over the next few years.

The concession, operated by subsidiary Sistem Lingkaran Lebuhraya Kajang Sdn Bhd, recorded a total traffic volume of 45.4 million vehicles from January to December 2010, up 17 per cent from 38.8 million in the previous year.

In the first nine months of this year, the volume markedly increased to some 140,000 vehicles daily. The growth resulted in a 27 per cent reduction in its highway division loss from RM26 million last year to RM19 million.
