US-based gold and copper miner Anatolia (TSE:ANO), focused on Turkey, said on Wednesday it had agreed to tie up with Australian peer Avoca (ASX:AVO) in a merger of equals to create a top global gold producer with a USD2bn (EUR1.6bn) market capitalisation. Under the terms of the agreement, Anatolia will exchange 0.4453 own common shares for each Avoca ordinary share and form the new company Alacer Gold Corp of which each will hold 50% at closing.
