Since the declaration of Pakistan's independence from the Indian subcontinent, the relations between these countries have not been friendly. India did not accept Pakistan's independence and made efforts in the UN so that Pakistan would not be recognized as an independent country. After Pakistan was recognized as an independent country, border conflicts emerged between the two countries, particularly over Kashmir.
