Human rights abuse in Karamoja sub-region, which had increased when the disarmament exercise was launched, have reduced, rights officials have said.

Speaking during a human rights training for Local Defence Unit personnel and army officers at Moroto army barracks on Monday, Mr Paul Otim, the human rights coordinator for Karamoja, said the UPDF, which used to be the main perpetrators of abuses in the sub-region, have realised the importance of human rights due to the cooperation between the commission and the army.
