23 September 2011 - US Advanced Cell Technology Inc (OTCBB:ACTC) said on Thursday that it had been cleared by the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to start treating patients as part of a Phase I/II study for Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy (SMD) using retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) derived from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs).
