Sept. 13--PEORIA -- There are three reasons why the nation's economy continues to sputter, notes the economics editor of the Wall Street Journal.
In a telephone interview last week, David Wessel cited a stagnant housing market, the political paralysis in Washington and economic problems in Europe as contributing to the "unrecovery" in this country.
Last week's concern over a possible default by Greece was just the latest scare received by Wall Street that triggered a dip in stock prices, he said. "Fundamental problems in Europe are being treated with six-week bandages at a time," said Wessel.
