No jump expected in holiday hiring.

Sept. 13--DAYTON -- This year's holiday job market may not be as bright as it was in years past, according to a new survey and retail industry insiders. The survey, conducted by the Hay Group, a global management consultant firm, found that although retailers expect holiday sales to increase this year, two-thirds plan to hire the same amount of seasonal workers as in 2010. A quarter of those polled plan to hire fewer people.

The jobs are coveted. Nearly a quarter of the companies surveyed said they are seeing up to 25 percent more applicants this year than last. The Hay Group surveyed 21 major U.S. retailers, including Coldwater Creek, DSW, …
