Sept. 12--The Buffalo News, in its continuing commitment to community service, has launched the "Bucks for Books" campaign to purchase children's and adult books for the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library system.

The goal is to raise $250,000 to help offset an expected loss of $900,000 for the purchase of materials next year at all 37 branch libraries.

This newspaper is extremely passionate about maintaining the quality of our libraries. To start the ball rolling, The News has committed $10,000 to the effort. In addition, News Publisher Stanford Lipsey and his wife, Judith, have given $50,000. Now we are asking the community to join in. Toward that end, The …
