Text of commentary entitled "The true causes of the two states crisis" published in English by South Sudan newspaper The Citizen on 8 September

The Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which was signed approximately seven years ago was a bilateral deal between the National Congress Party (NCP) and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) under international mediation led by the US. All the items of the agreement have upon agreed to and passed by the two parties who are fully responsible for implementation of those items.

They have also agreed on a 'special status' for the Blue Nile and Southern Kurdufan states and Abyei region.

While affiliation of Abyei to the north or the south is still contested, the status of Southern Kurdufan and the Blue Nile is not subject to contention because both of them are affiliated to the north within the 1956 …
