Sept. 01--PANAMA CITY -- There are quite a few myths when it comes to suicide. A suicide prevention conference Wednesday aimed to dispel those myths, instead encouraging participants to treat individuals suffering from a mental disease with compassion and get them treatment.
Thomas Joiner, a professor at Florida State University who has authored or edited 17 books, was the keynote presenter at the second annual Suicide Prevention Conference, hosted by the Life Management Center of Northwest Florida at Gulf Coast State College.
