Aug. 31--Old school Mississippi State secondary coach Melvin Smith occasionally mumbles a teaching point requiring translation by his most experienced defensive backs

But one thing Smith has always emphasized continues to ring loud and clear.

"Coach Smith says that interceptions come in bunches," State cornerback Corey Broomfield said. "You might go two or three weeks without an interception, but you have to stay in position and let the interceptions come to you."
