The Senate introduced legislation this month that would authorize a Department of Defense (DOD) pilot program to address mental health treatment and outreach in the National Guard and Reserves through community partnerships.
The Military Mental Health Act (S. 1465) identifies community partnerships as a private non-profit organization or institution or multiple organizations and institutions that engage in research on the causes, development, and innovative treatment of mental health and substance use disorders and traumatic brain injury in members of the National Guard and Reserves, their family members, and their caregivers.
