PLANS emerged today to transform an empty Buchan field into a new retail superstore.

A greenfield site off Peterhead's Kinmundy Road has lain empty for decades.

But now plans have emerged for a scaled-down superstore at the site.

Falkirk-based developer Portal Holdings hopes to transform the 15,000sq ft site and attract a major national retailer to the location.

The company has now applied for planning permission and, if successful, it is believed that around a dozen jobs could be created.
