Aug. 17--The Superior High School girls tennis team has faced its share of mind games from opponents in recent years, ranging from confident smirks to bizarre team chants about skunks. This year, the Spartan girls plan to fight back. "Kailley (Phillips) wants us to do Samoan intimidation," said Raya Kosey, a team captain this season. "So she's trying to teach us all a Samoan ritual to scare away our opponents."
If the Samoan intimidation chant doesn't do the trick, the team is hoping the cracked and warped tennis courts at the high school will throw off opponents. "We really like playing at the high school, but it's so hard because the middle school courts are so much nicer," said Natalie Burger, Superior's other team captain.
