4 July 2011 - US-based company Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc, part of Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) announced on Friday that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved XARELTO (rivaroxaban tablets), an oral anticoagulant for the prevention (prophylaxis) of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) which may lead to a pulmonary embolism (PE) in people undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery.
