Resignations of five board members at opposition newspaper Al Wasat were rejected yesterday. Five of the newspaper's 11 board members, including its chairman, resigned in protest following the controversial reinstatement of Mansur al-Jamri as editor-in-chief.

Mr Al-Jamri has been reappointed despite being one of four men standing trial for allegedly fabricating news in the High Criminal Court, which is due to issue a verdict on 11 October. He was sacked from the post in April along with two other …
