Ghanaian politicians do make promises on their campaign trails that they hardly fulfil.

This time around, President John Atta Mills is being held accountable for some of these promises as the chiefs and people of the Volta Region where the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) draws its main support in every election are up in arms to demand that, promises made to them are fulfilled.

"We are not holding President Mills to ransom or trying to blackmail him but we just want to let him know that the people cannot be taken for granted," Mr Joseph Modzaka, a youth leader from the region said. Mr Modzaka added: "Promises made on …
