TWO of the north-east's oldest castles have a new manager.

The National Trust's Drum Castle, near Banchory, and Craigievar, near Alford, will be run by Alison Burke, 40, formerly learning manager at the award-winning Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway.

She is well-qualified to care for historic buildings, holding a PhD in the performance of ancient Greek tragedy, an MLitt in classics and an MA (Hons) in classical civilisation and theatre studies.
