The State Security Court (SSC) has sentenced three men to two-and-a-half-year prison terms after convicting them of attempting to join armed groups abroad.

The court first handed Muhammad Abu-Libdah, 27, Umar Abu-Quttam, 28, and Ahmad Khatib, 28, five-year prison terms, but decided immediately to halve the sentence to give the defendants "a second chance in life".

A fourth defendant, Zayd Hurani, who is at large, was sentenced to a five-year prison term.
