PETROLEUM RETAILER Total Philippines Corp. hit tax collectors for repeated audits, warning that such efforts were scaring away legitimate investors that are reportedly scrutinized more than smaller firms.

"The drive of the new administration to increase tax collection is admirable and in principle we stand by them. However, the way they are doing it is not good because they need to tackle those who are more creative in filing their taxes than companies who pay legally," Total Philippines President and Managing Director Ernst Wanten told reporters in a chance interview on Friday.
