Tehran, 31 July: The fact that Saudi Arabia is being equipped with military hardware has its roots in certain Western countries insatiable thirst for the exploitation of the Persian Gulf regions extensive energy reserves, according to Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier-General Masud Jazayeri. Jazayeri made the remarks in an interview with the Mehr News Agency published on Sunday [31 July] in reference to the German government's recent decision to permit the export of 200 Leopard 2 tanks to Saudi Arabia for a sale price of 1.8 billion euros (2.6 billion dollars).
