An announcement has been made at the Journalists Union in Beirut on launching a new Arab satellite channel named as the Al-Mayadin. This channel is the fruit of the merger between the Al-Ittihad Channel, which was established by journalist Nayif Kurayyim, and the project launched by [former Al-Jazeera moderator] journalist Ghassan Bin-Jiddu.
