Fort Portal Officials Refuse to Withdraw Salary Dispute Case.

An out-of-court attempt to settle salary dispute between Fort Portal mayor and his deputy and the Municipal Council on Sunday yielded no fruits after the duo refused to withdraw the case.

NRM party leaders in Kabarole District had called for a meeting to pressure Fort Portal mayor Edison Ruyonga and his deputy Margaret Kihika to withdraw a case they filed before the High Court over reduced emoluments.

The district councillors in a June 27 session said the allowances of the two officials are higher compared to other municipalities in the country and reduced it to Shs2.8 million per month.
